Under The Lamp
Intro
Under The Lamp is a 2D Resource Management/Horror game where you consistently try to improve your equipment using collected resources in the hopes of getting closer and closer to your destination each time.
How To Play?
- Use flashlight to collect 'Soft Light' resource
- Using gun, left click to shoot
- Kill enemies to find 'Hard Light' resource
- Prefer 'Recall to Lamp' instead of just walking back because it respawns resources (and also enemies)
- Get to the other end to win
Ravaged By Darkness
The world has lost its light. Yet a glow remains. Will you reach the other end and embody light, or will you perish by the hands of darkness?
Better Your Gear
Under the lamp, use your resources wisely to improve your equipment with each run.
Promises of The Future
What lies on the other end, is a promise of heavens. Get to the other side, no matter what it takes.
Keep Your Eyes Peeled
Keep your eyes peeled and flashlights pointed, for the creatures of dark blend into this hopeless, sunless world.
Tips & Tricks
- If you are out of bullets, run back a little, and once a safe distance away from nearest enemy, recall.
- Investing in bullets initially is a good idea, as that allows you to collect Hard Light and have longer run.
- Enemies are completely dark, and hence blend in if you do not use your flashlight to spot them. With higher level flashlights, you can spot enemies from a good distance by noticing their pitch black color compared to other trees.
- Enemies may be almost invisible in the dark, but you'll be able to find out if they are in pursuit if they have an orange highlight around their head. A read highlight would mean you are in attack range.
- You lose nothing by recalling or dying, you just have to start from base again, so relax, the game is intended to be played over a course of 15 - 30 mins by doing multiple runs and recalling back to base to upgrade items.
Your Feedback
We are a group of two friends, participating in game jams for fun. We highly value feedback as it has helped us evolve exponentially over our past two game jams (we always participate in UJG in the summers).
We would really appreciate if you can leave some feedback on what you liked, what you disliked, and how it can be improved.
And of course, none of your feedback will be taken 'lightly' :)
Thank you for playing!

Thank you! I don't know Portuguese so I used google translate. Wishing you good luck! Boa sorte!
Fun game. Gorgeous graphics. Could do with some more difficulty.
Thank you for the feedback John, we'll look into improving the difficulty if we do end up updating the game further after the jam.
We're glad you liked it!
I LOVED this game! The great visuals combined with the amazing sound effects grants the player a impressive atmosphere. The progression is really addicting despite being quick and simple. The gameplay mechanics are really intuitive. I would love if you update the game after the game Jam and maybe it gets a full release, because It has a lot of potential.
What you can improve:
- More upgrades, and harder progression.
- More enemie types.
- More weapons.
- Lore and deeper story.
- The text font is not very good. It seems to be in low resolution.
- Fullscreen support.
Bugs:
- The monsters didn't appeared after I upgraded all my stuff, even after recalling to the lamp.
- I still can shoot after the "The End" screen appears.
By the way, I would love if you could play my 2d survival-horror game and give me some feedback too! It's called "Touch of Madness". 🥸🖤
Hey! Thank you so much for such a detailed feedback. It's wonderful to hear that you loved the game. We'll definitely consider these improvements as well as the bug fixes if we do end up working on the game further. Also, you've got a wonderful game yourself, we've left some feedback on your game's page.
Regardless, we really appreciate feedback like this because it motivates us to do more, and better. Thanks!
